Whole Grains are Best

An important change your family can make is to switch from overly processed foods to those made with whole grains, especially when it comes to bread, crackers, pasta, rice, waffles, cereals and flours used in baking. One of the benefits of eating whole grains is that they are chock-full of fiber. Diets high in fiber have been shown to decrease the risk of heart disease, diabetes, constipation and unhealthy weight gain.

Most children do not get the required amount of fiber
Look for 3-5 grams of fiber per serving
Think of fiber as a broom that sweeps the insides of your child’s intestines clean
Gradually switch over to whole grains products
