Our mission at Build Healthy Kids is to provide
families an easy way to understand, organize and improve their child's
diet and activity levels so that you can all live healthier every
day.
Limit
Treats Nutritionally
speaking, your child doesn’t need the unhealthy calories
found in junk food like cookies, candies, cakes, chips and
soda. Practically speaking, completely forbidding this type
of food is likely to backlash; creatig a child who wants more
of this type of unhealthy food.
Make these foods an occasional treat because the risks associated
with eating a diet high in junk foods include: cavities, diabetes,
and weight issues
• Limit treats
to once a week if weight is an issue
• Start slow for a better
chance of success
• Soda
is a double whammy; it replaces more nutritious choices and
is bad for bones and teeth
• Teach
your child: junk foods do nothing to strengthen their bodies
